Shirt Description:
The Porsche 911 Carrera designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in the 1960’s is a true work of art. Its timeless design has helped propel Porsche's success over the years and is still as relevant as ever.
Originally, “Carrera” was the name of the Type 547 four-camshaft engine designed by Dr Ernst Fuhrmann and It wasn’t until 1972 that “Carrera” was being used as a synonym to the 911 series. The history of the Porsche 911 Carrera goes all the way back to the 1950’s where Porsche competed in a 3,000+ kilometre endurance race called “Carrera Panamericana” that took place along the Pan- American highway in Mexico.
In 1954 with 28-year-old Hans Herrmann, a new driver with just two-years of motorsport experience at the wheel, Porsche was able to secure major successes in the competition with the 550 Spyder.
