1987 CHEVROLET CORVETTE

The C4 Corvette refers to the fourth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, produced from 1984 to 1996. This generation marked a significant redesign, moving away from the earlier C3 models with a focus on a more modern and aerodynamic look. The C4 Corvette was designed by a team led by Chief Designer Dave McLellan, who played a significant role in the development of the Corvette brand. 

The exterior styling was influenced by designer Chuck Jordan and his team, incorporating a more modern and aerodynamic look compared to its predecessor, the C3. The design process focused on improving aerodynamics, performance, and incorporating advanced technology, resulting in a vehicle that was both visually striking and performance-oriented. The C4’s design is often credited with helping to redefine the Corvette as a serious sports car for the modern era.

The L98 engine used in the 1987 C4 Corvette was a 5.7-liter (350 cubic inch) V8 that delivered a solid balance of performance and drivability. Featuring Tuned Port Injection (TPI), it produced 240 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque, offering strong low-end pull and smooth throttle response. This fuel-injected small-block was a big step up from earlier carbureted engines, giving the ’87 Corvette quicker acceleration and improved efficiency. Paired with either a 4-speed automatic, the L98 helped define the C4’s character as a refined yet muscular sports car of the late ’80s.
